“What a start to the 2018 DTM season! On Saturday, I already made it onto the podium at Hockenheim, but what followed on Sunday on the way to my fifth DTM win could
not be topped by anything else. The thrilling battle with Gary Paffett was the most epic race of my life! It was incredible motorsport and exactly what we want to put on for the fans. It was a hard but very fair fight. At the next races at the Lausitzring and in Budapest I got back onto the podium – and until the fourth round of the season at the Norisring I was in first place in the drivers’ championship. At the finale at Hockenheim I was able to celebrate another podium finish. In the end, I finished fifth in the championship. No question about it – 2018 was my most successful DTM season to date.“
