“2019 marked the beginning of a new era in DTM: As part of the new Class 1 regulations, our BMW M4 DTM was fitted with a turbo engine with over 600 horsepower. That’s
really a huge amount of power under the bonnet, and is exactly what a racing driver wants. The new BMW M4 DTM is so much fun. Personally, I started the new year with a
lot of momentum after my strong 2018 season – but the racing gods had a different fate in store for me. I’ve never experienced so much bad luck. But we never gave up and
kept fighting, the team spirit was and is simply sensational. The finale at Hockenheim kind of made up for what was a tough year; my fourth place in the final race meant I
just missed out on giving my boys a podium finish. But this difficult season just motivates us all the more. We’re going to make a strong comeback and we’ll work hard
to make it happen.”
